The European Commission presented its EU-wide platform at its Friends of ITS meeting on the 3rd of June. The Cooperative, Connected, Automated and Autonomous Mobility (CCAM) Single Platform consists of an informal group of both private and public stakeholders.
The group includes one hundred experts in the field of CCAM from twenty-five member states and will be appointed for three years. The CCAM Single Platform is a joint initiative of Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport (DG) MOVE, Directorate-General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology (DG CNECT), Directorate-General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SME’s (DG GROW) and Directorate-General for Research and Innovation (DG RTD).
An open call for applications was launched in March. EuroRAP has been selected as a member to the Platform and Ms Lina Konstantinopoulou, Secretary General has been appointed as representative.
EuroRAP recognizes the European Commission’s informal group of experts, the Single Platform as an important vehicle for sharing knowledge and expertise in order to speed up the pre-deployment of cooperative, connected, automated and autonomous mobility in Europe.
This platform will coordinate CCAM research, testing, piloting and pre-deployment activities. The group will also address issues related to data access and exchange, road transport infrastructure, digital infrastructure, communication technology, cybersecurity, road safety and legal frameworks. Additionally, the group will advise and support the generation of the work programme for the CCAM European partnership.
Apart from the plenary meetings, the platform has a series of working groups. Each of these groups will be chaired by one representative of the DGs involved and will address a different facet of CCAM testing:
- WG1 Develop an EU agenda for testing
- WG2 Coordination and cooperation of R&I
- WG3 Physical and digital road infrastructure
- WG4 Road safety
- WG5 Connectivity and digital infrastructure for CCAM
- WG6 Cybersecurity and access to in-vehicle data linked to CCAM
