General Assembly and Annual Conference 2016: Towards Zero – How to make safer roads and road users safer

We are pleased to announce that this year’s annual conference is entitled How to make safer roads and road users safer’.

It will be hosted by EuroRAP and DRC-Transportation Research Association of Slovenia and will take place in Ljubljana, Slovenia’s beautiful capital city, from 22 to 24 June. Our venue is the Four Points Sheraton Hotel.

We are very pleased that European Union Transport Commissioner Violeta Bulc has accepted our invitation to join us. She will participate in round table discussions designed to contribute directly to thinking about road safety policy.

The meetings start with a welcome cocktail on the evening of the 22nd, with EuroRAP partners involved in RADAR and other projects having met during that afternoon.  The highlight on the following day will be a joint conference session, ‘European Roads toward Vision Zero’.

There will be parallel sessions in the morning and, in the afternoon, round tables with the active participation of the Commissioner. Each round table will address a particular road safety challenge with a brief to come up with actionable proposals.

Delegates from both events will come together in the evening for a joint dinner hosted at the Sheraton.

Friday 24 June will feature parallel sessions on risk mapping and performance tracking and societal and behavioural aspects.

The joint event draws to a close in the early afternoon giving delegates time to explore Ljubljana’s historic city centre.

Details of the conference programme can be viewed here.

This is sure to be one of the liveliest and most influential road safety get-togethers in Europe in 2016. We very much look forward to seeing you there!
